Easter weekend is fast approaching and due to it being so late in the month this year, we’ll hopefully get to spend the long weekend enjoying some fresh, spring sunshine, (although let’s not get our hopes up just yet).

But come rain or shine, the double bank holiday weekend only comes around once a year, therefore it’s important to make the most of it, and here at Creditplus we’ve handpicked some of the most exciting, Easter themed outings and activities happening around the UK.

So, if you want some ideas for a fun-filled Easter extravaganza, then check out our top 7 Easter excursions - they’re guaranteed to bring plenty of EGG-CITEMENT!

1. Easter Fun at Haddon Hall, Bakewell

Haddon Hall is an impressive country house on the River Wye near Bakewell, which looks more like a Castle than a house. Visit over Easter weekend and let your kids run lose around the gardens and submerge themselves in Easter madness. There’ll be activities for all ages including hand painting, archery, music and Easter egg hunts. If you get peckish, there’s a fantastic restaurant which serves brunch, lunch and afternoon teas, which includes plenty of children’s options too – however, if they were successful on the Easter egg hunt, they may not have much of an appetite!

2. Chocofrolica at Blackgang Chine, Isle of Wight

If your kids are chocolate lovers, then Blackgang Chine’s Chocofrolica is an event not to be missed! Children can enrol as a chocolatier and spend the day indulging in a range of chocolate related games and activities. This includes taking a plunge into a giant chocolate bubble bath in search of the golden bubble, an opportunity to create chocolatey treats to take home in the Crafting Corner, as well as an incredible 5-tier chocolate fountain and a special performance from Coco the Bubble Wizard.

3. Easter at Cadbury World, Bournville

Of course it’s a no brainer that Cadbury world in Bournville are celebrating Easter in a big way. Over the bank holiday weekend, the Easter Bunny will be making a special guest appearance and will be laying an Easter egg trail, including a special prize waiting at the end! In addition to this there’ll be live stage shows from My Cadbury’s parrot and the Missing Mini Eggs, plus an Easter bonnet competition. The judging will be on arrival - so you better start getting creative!

4. Junk Orchestra at Leeds Castle

If your kids are up for some musical fun this Easter, then head over to Leeds Castle and experience the brilliantly unique sounds of the Junk Orchestra. The former STOMP member Saul Eisenberg creates music from old recycled objects providing a fun and fascinating performance the whole family will enjoy. The little ones can also get creative with card, paint and glitter at the Castles ‘mad hat’ making workshop, and fashion themselves a pair of bunny ears or a unique Easter headdress.

5. Cadbury National Trust Easter Egg Hunts

This year The National Trust have partnered with Cadburys once again and are hosting over 250 Easter egg hunts across the country. This is a great opportunity to explore some of the stunning countryside the UK has to offer, including beautiful woodland trails, historic houses and their magnificent gardens. While you and your family follow the clues left by the Easter bunny, keep an eye out for wildlife along the way, including real bunnies, squirrels and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a deer! Most locations will be offering games and craft activities too, so your little ones can enjoy a full day of Easter fun.

6. Search for the Easter Bunny at Oystermouth Castle

Another Castle for you - this time in Wales! Oystermouth Castle is a Norman stone castle which looks out over Swansea Bay on the east side of the Gower Peninsula. On Easter Sunday the Castle will be host to a range of Easter activities, including an Easter Bunny word search hunt, followed by Easter crafts. Swansea Bay offers plenty in the way of coastal walks and attractions too, so it’s definitely worth making a weekend of it and exploring the local area while you’re there.

7. Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall

Finally, what could be a better Easter experience than getting up close with some real baby lambs? That’s right – over the Easter period, Heligan Estate are inviting families to visit the barn and meet the newest arrivals. Tiny lambs skipping about on wobbly legs? It doesn’t get much cuter than that. But if you can drag your kids away from the lambs for long enough, they can also take part in a whole host of Easter fun and games, including Highland Cow Horn Hoopla, Heligan Hobby Horse Derby and Egg and spoon races, with a Championship Egg Show on Easter Sunday.
