The new Mercedes-AMG C 63
Mercedes announce a new name and new engine for their latest car, the Mercedes-AMG C 63. The all-new car will succeed the most popular AMG model in history.
The new engine has been designed to be more efficient whilst also providing more power. The hand built, 4 litre biturbo V8 engine codenamed M177 is 32 per cent more efficient than the previous generation engine. It also makes the car the fastest C-Class variant, with 0 to 62 mph in 4.0 seconds and can reach a speed limited 155 mph.
The C 63 uses the lightweight 205 series aluminium and steel chassis structure to reduce weight. A unique suspension set up uses four-link suspension at the front, with a rear multilink system at the back uses independent mounts and a negative camber. Both suspensions are controlled by the AMG Ride Control System, allowing the driver to change between comfort to track settings.
Matching the changes to the engine, the exterior has also undergone a revamp. Front bumpers have altered deeper airdams to help feed air into the intercoolers. The unique AMG grille and new bonnet also helps to aid airflow into the engine. Rear bumper has also had a redesign to help house the quad exhaust pipes.
Inside, the trim has had a big change with deep, contoured seats. If you choose the sport seats option, a range of different leather treatments and trim is available, including piano black and carbon stylings. Touchpad controller gives the driver instant control of the optional active AMG performance exhaust system and three stage gearbox modes.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 Saloon and Estate models will be available to order from October, after the car makes an appearance at the Paris Motor Show. Deliveries will begin in Spring 2015.
