Olympic fever has hit Great Britain as the nation’s fastest, strongest and…furthest compete against the world’s best in Tokyo. Seeing our athletes standing on the podium with a medal around their neck, it’s something we are all delighted to see.

But, now that we’ve seen how our athletes perform on the track, in the pool, or behind the handlebars of a bike, we were curious to see what our Olympic stars use to get to training. What’s the best car to drive if you want to be an Olympic champion? Here are some of the motors chosen by Olympic stars past and present.

Adam Peaty

Quite possibly the fastest ever Briton to ever dip their toe in the pool, Adam Peaty’s success has led to an impressive array of cars. From humble days driving a Renault Clio, Peaty has owned several Mercedes cars, the most recent of which was the Mercedes AMG GT R. He then upgraded to an Aston Martin Vantage, but the start of a family meant he had to switch to something more family oriented. The Tesla Model X P100D is a very special choice for any family, so perfectly suited to an Olympian.

Max Whitlock

Having just won his second gold medal for the pommel horse, we’re left wondering if he’ll be driving away in another gold car? After his heroics in Rio 2016, Whitlock was rewarded with a gold-wrapped electric Nissan Leaf. As an ambassador for the Japanese brand, Max surely has his pick of top Nissan cars. But a look at his twitter history suggest his heart lies further west, as pre-fame Max posted a picture of the Ford Mustang.

Rebecca Adlington

The queen of British swimming, Rebecca Adlington has hung up her swimming cap since her successes at Beijing and London. Managing life as a pundit and mum means a practical car is needed. The BMW X6 she drives is certainly one of the best choices, a great family SUV that has all the mod cons an Olympian deserves.

Mo Farah

One of Team GB’s greatest ever track athletes, Mo Farah was unfortunate to miss out on a place at this year’s games. But he can console himself behind the wheel of his £150,000 Bentley Continental GT. Coloured bright orange (unfortunately not gold!), it’s a car beloved by the UK’s sports stars. But few have the 2 gold medals to hang from the rear view mirror.

Jessica Ennis-Hill

Another Olympic legend, Jessica Ennis-Hill is used to having to tackle different jobs as part of the heptathlon. So it’s only fitting that she has a car that can match that busy lifestyle. The sporty Jaguar XKR was donated to her by a car firm. One of the many perks of being one of the greatest athletes on the planet!

Sir Chris Hoy

Quite possibly the greatest British Olympian of all time, Sir Chris Hoy isn’t content with being fast on the velodrome. His cars are just as rapid. His daily drive is an Audi RS6, which is no slouch even if it’s a bit more practical than his other car –Porsche GT3 RS. But best of the bunch is an absolute British icon, the Caterham 420R. Perfect for the track days he regularly takes part in, which are a good bit larger than the looping velodrome where he made his name.
