This BMW 1-Series M-Sport is ideal for anyone wanting a fun, sporty all-rounder. It’s essentially a more compact 3-Series. And whilst it may not be the most spacious hatchback, it’s well-equipped and great fun to drive. This particular example is an automatic BMW 1-Series 120D M-Sport Diesel, with 41,000 miles in white.

Styling

With its sleek, streamlined panels and signature kidney grille, it looks expensive. Yet the 1-Series is the entry-level BMW. The M-Sport also comes fitted with a dark chrome exhaust pipe, black exterior lights and 17-inch alloy wheels, making it easily recognisable on the roads.

What's it like inside?

Step inside the M-Sport, and things get even more exciting. The cabin feels distinctly premium, fitted with soft-touch plastics and metal-effect trims, whilst the front-sports seats and a leather M branded steering wheel add a sporty touch.

If you’re a tech lover, good news. You’ll enjoy a decent selection, including the BMW Live Cockpit Professional sat nav system with a 10.25" high resolution display. DAB digital radio and Bluetooth audio streaming are also included, combined with Intelligent Voice Assistant for maximum driver convenience.

What's it like to drive?

If you’re looking for a fun ride, the 1-Series certainly won’t leave you disappointed. It’s the only car in its class to come with a rear-wheel drive, giving it a sporty edge over its rivals. And with this formula one feature, it’s able to tackle corners and turns with ease.

Handling is superb, although the suspension is fairly firm which may not be to everyone’s taste. But overall, the 1-Series M-Sport is a smooth and comfortable ride.

It’s 120D diesel engine offers plenty in the way of speed and power, making it the ideal motorway cruiser. And if you want to test its performance further, Sport Mode enables faster acceleration and gear changes to really get your pulse racing.

You’d expect a performance-oriented engine of this calibre to have a high fuel consumption, yet all diesel engines including the 120D are surprisingly economical, meaning less trips to the pump.

Driver conveniences & Safety

With the 1-Series M-Sport, there’s no shortage of driver conveniences. Rain sensors, automatic headlights and keyless start are all included, plus rear parking sensors and cruise control with an automatic brake function. And for the safety of you and your passengers, the 1 Series M-SPORT has Intelligent Emergency. To activate, you just need to tap open the cover flap, then press and hold the SOS button until the LED in the button area is illuminated green. In some emergencies, the system may also be triggered automatically.
